What are factory floors made of?

While factory floors can be made from a range of materials, concrete is one of the most popular options.

Factory flooring options

Depending on the use of your factory floor, there are a number of factors you should consider
  • Does your factory floor need chemical resistance?  Concrete floors can be effected by chemical attack. A resin coating can be the best option to prevent chemicals damaging your floors.  Not all resins are created equal, but we can help determine the right options for your situation.
  • How much abrasion will your floor be exposed to?  Factory floors with a lot of foot or forkhoist/vehicle traffic can wear more quickly.  Floors that are covered with grit or dirt will also wear more quickly.  We can look at what is the typical use of your floor and come up with the right options.  Polished concrete or a more abrasion resistant resin coating like Polyaspartic or Urethane Cement may be the best option.
  • Impact Resistance.  Impact resistance is quite different to abrasion.  Impact has to do with force, typically from hard object being dropped on the floor.  These items often don’t need to be very heavy, but it is their weight, speed of impact and contact surface area that determine the damage they can inflict on your factory floor.  The floor finish needs to be able to resist or absorb the impact.  Polished concrete may be an option if there is unlikely to be small contact areas (items with sharp or small corners).   A thicker coating system like Urethane Cement or Self Levelling Epoxy can offer the longest service life for your floor.
